CHANG FEE MING

The boy has borrowed his father’s chequered (pelikat) sarong for a game of ghosts (hantu). In the village, there is a good choice of hantu for playing at terrifying friends at night. To name a few, the hantu toyol is a sort of gnome, the hantu golek rolls about here and there, the hantu bungkus, a wrapped-up ghost, nowadays modernized as a ninja— all covered up except for the eyes.
